In 2007, I was asked to produce promotional web videos for a brand of fabric spray paint made in Warwick, RI called Simply Spray. I built two puppets for the project: a father and baby dog, Dipple and Dapple. I wanted my brother David to interact with the puppets in a Sesame Street-style solid color void. For some reason the project fell through, but I wanted to do something with the puppets anyways. I wrote a script in a couple of minutes and went to visit my friends in Jamaica Plain.
Later, in 2008, the issue of making the Simply Spray commercials was brought up again. This time we actually made them.
We reinvested some of the money from the commercials in a now-legendary party featuring a Pavarotti impersonator.
